Jason Yap joined Travelzoo Asia Pacific in 2007 and is CEO responsible for the overall business operations in the Asia Pacific markets, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Singapore. Travelzoo Asia Pacific is a licensee of Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ: TZOO), a global Internet media company.

Prior to that, Jason held several senior positions at the STAR Group Ltd., where his expertise extended to Mobile, Advertising Sales and Integrated Marketing for Asia Pacific and the Middle East markets.

Jason’s earlier career also included responsibilities in Advertising Sales, Programming, Scheduling, Business Development and Marketing for the Media Corporation of Singapore and CNN.

Jason completed an Advanced Management Program with Harvard Business School in 2010. Jason is now based in Hong Kong with his wife and two daughters.

Mr Veitch sits on the boards of Wego (Singapore), Triperna (UAE), Valadoo (Indonesia) and is an active investor and advisor to startups in the technology, e-commerce and online travel space.

Previously, Mr Veitch opened up South East Asian operations for Yahoo! in 1998 and led the product, engineering, customer care and surfing teams for 6 years. Mr Veitch is Australian by birth and has lived and worked in London, Melbourne, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore which has been home since 1998.

Andy started his digital marketing career as a web designer in the good old days when putting pictures on a web page required some skills. Later, he spent 10 years with MRM Worldwide, the digital and CRM marketing arm of McCann Worldgroup, in various countries and capacities – from Director of Analytics in Los Angeles to Data & Technology Director in China, and later General Manager in Hong Kong.

Andy joined Hyatt in Jan 2013 to oversee the hotel chain’s digital marketing and e-commerce activities in Asia Pacific, including social media and in-hotel guest digital experience. His current focus is on helping Hyatt hotels to deliver memorable and social guest experiences leveraging social media, customer analytics, CRM and mobile.

A native of Taiwan, Andy has lived half of his life in the US and the other half in Asia.

Ryo spent 10 years in the Philippines prior to studying International Business and Economics at Sophia University in Tokyo.

Ryo has been with J-Seed Ventures since 2005, participating in several partner companies where he frequently assisted in starting up the businesses, marketing and business development. He has experience in the mobile/smartphone, online marketing and ad businesses. In 2008, he was in charge of starting up an iPhone ad network and produced an iPhone app at TrafficGate (currently LinkShare Japan K.K., a Rakuten, Inc. group company). Ryo also has experience in starting up his own venture, a mobile marketing company. Ryo is currently running a global startup, angel investor in several startups and serves as a advisor to a mobile marketing solution company in China and a Japanese publicly listed company that is investing in to business overseas.

From time to time Ryo writes about technology ventures and overseas market news for CNET Japan and TechWave. He loves working with startups and in addition to being an avid blogger, he is a serious networker who is constantly meeting people and hooking them up with others.

Ryo was selected as a Leaders of Tomorrow at the 40th + 44th St. Gallen Symposium held in 2010 and in 2011 as a member of World Economic Forum, Global Shapers Community (GSC) in Japan.

He was formerly CEO and co-founder of Youbibi, a Chinese travel metasearch company which launched in 2010 and was acquired by Skyscanner in 2014.

Prior to entering the world of online travel, Steven spent several years in investment banking at Morgan Stanley. He holds a law degree from the University of Oxford.

Steven never travels without “Learning a few words of the local language – it  helps one get a better feel for a place, and people tend to appreciate the effort.”

Kei co-founded Venture Republic Inc., that owns and runs Japan’s largest online travel search engine “Travel.jp”, hotel review search “Hotel.jp” and Curated travel contents service “Tabiness”. As CEO, he took the company public in 2008 (2177. JASDAQ) after 7 years of operation. Over the last 13 years, Kei has built the various successful online vertical media including “Travel.jp,” “Hotel.jp,” “Tabiness” and “coneco.net”. While running the company, he serves as an active investor and board member of various travel/ecommerce startups in the world including flocations in Singapore and Telunjuk in Indonesia.

A seasoned executive with his extensive knowledge of online travel, e-commerce and his strong entrepreneurship, Kei is responsible for driving the company by shaping its strategy, making commercialization efforts and building organization.

Previously, Kei worked at Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan’s leading trading & investment firm, for 11 years. During his time with the company, among other roles, he played the key role in company’s largest M&A deal in its history to acquire the Lawson Inc., one of the largest convenience store chains in Japan and led the company’s joint e-commerce businesses with Lawson to pursue its post acquisition strategy.

Kei received a BA of Laws from Keio University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He also serves as co-founder/organizer of WIT (Web in Travel) Japan, President of Venture Mitakai, an official Keio University’s alumni association for CEOs of venture businesses and Executive Committee Member of HBS Club of Japan (Harvard Business School’s alumni association in Japan) and a member of Japan Association of Corporate Executives “Keizai Doyukai.”

He has spoken at airline conferences and delivered training workshops for senior aviation executives. He has also appeared on television interviews and been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal. His writings have appeared extensively on SimpliFlying and respected industry outlets such as Airlinetrends, Tnooz, Airport World, Low Cost and Regional Airline Business Magazine and Loyalty360. In a previous role, he also conducted a workshop on social media at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore.

He speaks three languages fluently, and is also a published poet and amateur film critic.

Abhiram Chowdhry is Vice President and Managing Director of Hotels.com Asia Pacific, part of the Expedia, Inc. group, a role in which he is responsible for building Hotels.com business across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to this role, Chowdhry was Senior Marketing Director for Hotels.com Asia Pacific responsible for spearheading the online and offline marketing strategy for the Hotels.com brand. Chowdhry has also held the positions of Marketing Director and Search Marketing Director for Expedia and Hotels.com.

Before joining the Expedia, Inc. group, Chowdhry was the Marketing Director at FierceMarkets Inc, an online media business based in Washington DC, where he was responsible for creating and executing the marketing direction and plans for the company.

A skilled Marketing practitioner, Chowdhry began his career working in sales and marketing for BPL Sanyo a consumer electronics giant in India before moving to the US to take on the role of Market Research Analyst for the US Chamber of Commerce. From here he took on the role of Online Lead Generation and Marketing Strategy Manager for Thomson Corporation’s online education business in Singapore.

Chowdhry holds a Bachelor in Economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

His team supports directly Google's largest Travel clients & partners in APAC to help them achieve some of their key business objectives online, from Australia to Japan, China, India or SEA. Prior to that, he has led the Global Accounts Travel APAC team, where his focus was to establish long-term, meaningful partnerships at regional & global level with Google's top 10 Travel partners, and to drive execution on joint strategic priorities. He has been in Singapore for 3 years. Prior to moving to Singapore, he worked as EMEA Key Account Manager at Google with partners like Amazon or L'Oreal, based in Paris. He worked as a strategy consultant earlier in his career, and has a science & engineering background, for which he always keeps a keen eye. He is an avid traveler and the father of a little girl.

He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce, and exchanged to the University of Hong Kong and Shanghai Jiaotong University. Raphael was born and raised in Paris, but lived in Toronto, Shanghai, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong, which is also the reason why he speaks 6 languages including Hebrew, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Oliver Hua was appointed Booking.com’s Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region in 2013. He is responsible for developing and executing business strategy across one of the company’s fastest-growing regions.

Oliver came to Booking.com from eBay, where he had worked for over eight years. There, he held a number of senior positions including Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Japan, and Israel; Chief Operating Officer for Greater China, Japan, and Southeast Asia; and Senior Director of Trust and Safety for the Asia-Pacific region.

Before joining eBay in 2005, Oliver worked for seven years as a senior executive with a number of global management and strategy consultants, including McKinsey & Co. in Shanghai and Houston; Booz Allen Hamilton; and Stern Stewart & Co., where he worked with local and global clients in Asia, Europe and the United States.  

Oliver was also an entrepreneur, and in 2000, he co-founded and headed the B2B internet startup company, Luban.com.

Oliver received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Beijing Foreign Studies Institute in 1993. He also has a Master’s degree in Business Administration, which was awarded jointly by the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai and the International Graduate School of Management (IESE) in Barcelona and Madrid.
